Tom Ford is preparing a new film depicting the world of opera in which Adele will make her debut as an actress. It is an adaptation of a novel cry to heaven (1982) Written by Anne Rice, produced and directed by Ford, who is also the screenwriter. The plot follows a castrato, a man who underwent child castration to preserve his sharp voice, through the history of Venetian nobility and their singing maestros.
In addition to the British singer, the group includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciaran Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany and Owen Cooper. They will be joined by Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schaefer, Thandie Newton and Lux Pascal.
This is not the first time one of Anne Rice’s more than 40 novels has been adapted into a film. Having sold more than 135 million copies, Rice is considered one of the most popular fantasy authors of all time.
Ford’s new film, which will be screened at the American Film Market through his production company Fade to Black, is currently in pre-production in London and Rome, with production set to begin quickly and be released in the fall of 2026.
