Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo Bezerra Azevedo’s lawyer, Jeffrey Scichini, complained about the reaction of Prosecutor Paulo Vasconcelos Jacobina during the oral arguments of the First Chamber of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Watch the moment:
Mr. Sichini was responding to a question from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who reported the incident, about the possibility of Mr. Bezerra’s photo being published on his birthday on December 15, when the authorities’ “neutralization” plan would be carried out.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know what’s funny. The prosecutor was laughing while I was speaking. I don’t know what’s funny,” Schichini said.
Scikini made his first oral argument this Wednesday (12/11) in the retrial of the third group of defendants. The group is made up of Army soldiers and federal police officers known as “Black Kids.” Analysis began this Tuesday and resumed this Wednesday (12/11) at 9:15am.
The group was charged by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) with five crimes, including an attempted coup. According to the PGR, this core will be responsible for monitoring and planning attacks against republican authorities.
Federal police discovered that this center was preparing a plan called the “Green and Yellow Pistol” to assassinate President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), Vice President Gerardo Alcumín (PSB), and Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
date
In oral argument, Scichini refuted the PGR’s accusation that Rodrigo Bezerra had a “leading role in field actions aimed at monitoring and neutralizing public institutions.”
Mr. Sichini emphasized that Mr. Bezerra did not take part in the meeting on November 12, 2022 at the residence of General Braga Netto, nor on November 28 at the residence of Márcio Núñez de Resende’s father.
The lawyer presented photos of his client’s clubs and dinners. Then, on December 15, Rodrigo Bezerra refuted the possibility that he took part in carrying out the plot against the authorities. Scichini said Bezerra ordered food from his home for dinner that day.
Moraes then asked for a photo of Rodrigo Bezerra’s birthday and offered other dates as well. Sikini explained that he did not have the lieutenant colonel’s extraction report. So I couldn’t take any photos. He also said the photos in the file were from Rodrigo Bezerra’s wife’s cell phone.
Sikini asked for his client’s acquittal on the grounds of “denial of authorship.”
