bethlehem – On the second day of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), progress on environmental issues took a backseat. This Tuesday (11/11), the presence of California Governor Gavin Newsom and the Native American demonstration that injured two security guards made headlines.
Newsom, who could run for president of the republic, is a fierce critic of President Donald Trump, considered by environmentalists to be the most hated head of state. The Democratic governor harshly criticized the Republicans, saying the opposition took the wrong stance by not participating in the COP and not sending a representative.
However, Democrats brought a number of other political issues to COP30 during their visit. He said Trump “doesn’t believe in a system of checks and balances” and is afraid of “losing the republic.” He also criticized North America’s invasion of Venezuela. “The United States was blowing up boats without transparency, without Congressional approval, and even Republicans were criticizing it. If you can’t criticize that, then what are you criticizing?”
