IFEMA Madrid has prepared the first edition of the International Week of Electrification and Decarbonization (18-20 November), which includes the Genera trade fair (International Energy and Environment Trade Fair) and Matelec (International Energy and Environment Trade Fair) and Matelec (Solutions Exhibition for the International Community). … It will be held at the same time as the International Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Exhibition (Electrical and Electronic Industries).
The reference meeting point for all agents involved in the entire energy cycle, efficiency and electrical installations, with a clear international mission and building a large community for knowledge exchange (connectable 24/7, 365 days a year via the Live Connect web platform).
General (Halls 8 and 10, and half of Hall 3) covers the present and future of energy sustainability.
Attendees will have a rich experience throughout the week, including an exhibition area featuring more than 1,200 companies, key reference materials in the field, networking spaces, and technology demonstrations of all kinds. In this environment, the Innovation Gallery once again stands out, presenting 26 projects from exhibiting companies and organizations working on sustainability, digitalization and efficiency, integrated as a reference for promoting innovation in the energy sector. The Week supports this effort with activities aimed at supporting the presence of new talent in this field.
The Matelec fair (Halls 4 and 6 and half of Hall 3) brings together electrical industry professionals.
The expert panel evaluated projects based on technological innovation, applicability and impact on the energy transition, and contribution to decarbonization goals. In the case of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration trade fair, 18 developments will be made representing the main directions of evolution in the trade fair sector, such as energy efficiency, the use of natural refrigerants, decarbonization of buildings and digitalization of control systems. It presents the performance of sustainability in the rise of the 21st century economy, as well as new developments and future predictions.

The International Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Exhibition strengthens the technological agenda for a more sustainable, efficient and healthy sector with a new section on HVAC regulation and control, promoted in cooperation with AFEC (Association of Air Conditioning Equipment Manufacturers), and a new specialization on air conditioning systems for data processing centers, promoted by ASHRAE Spain Chapter (and the “Future of Air Conditioning in Architecture” conference). The AFEC report will also be joined by studies such as “Energy Efficiency Trends and Policies in Spain” by IDAE and “Heat Pumps in Spain-ES” by RAP (Regulatory Assistance Project) and Ecodes.
Organized with the support of IDAE, Genera will raise awareness of renewable energy, self-consumption, energy efficiency, storage and management solutions, and strengthen its program of activities through technical conferences and expert presentations on the main challenges in the energy sector (held simultaneously with Matelec). Newly, a monographic space dedicated to green hydrogen, smart networks and sustainable mobility will be promoted, strategic areas on the path to decarbonisation.
Materek will carry out new developments focused on the integration of renewable energy into power grids, energy storage, electrification and smart networks, where digitalisation, connectivity and automation are essential for these aspects. The Global Forum, shared with Genera in Pavilion 6, will host the most important presentations of both trade fairs, including related topics such as renewable energy and self-consumption, electrification and energy communities, electric mobility, advanced renewable technologies, flexibility and energy markets, energy efficiency and rehabilitation, innovation and digitalization, in collaboration with organizations such as IDAE, Secartys, Aedive, CIDE, APPA Renovables and Apliqa.
