An unprecedented photo of Marilia Mendonça taken from Google Street View has gone viral on social media in recent days. The image also caught the attention of the singer’s mother, Donna Ruth, who reacted and recalled the early moments of the Queen of Suffering’s career.
The photo that sparked the riot was taken more than a decade ago in front of a bar in Goiania (GO) and showed a young woman who fans believe was Marilia Mendonça, who was around 15 or 16 years old at the time. The record has recently gone viral, prompting internet users to recall the beginning of the singer’s career, which began precisely with a performance in a small bar in the capital Goiás.
Following the response, the artist’s mother, Donna Ruth, commented on the photo and spoke about the feelings of longing she has had since the accident that claimed her daughter’s life in November 2021. While she emphasized how much she encouraged her daughter’s career, she also commented on the sad thoughts that come to her from time to time.
“I always supported her. Maybe I’m blaming myself today. I supported her a lot. But she died doing what she loved and what she wanted to do. All she wanted was to sing, and she What the woman wanted was to showcase her work, and I supported her in all of that. Sometimes I stop and think, if I hadn’t supported her, she probably would have lived.
Marilia Mendonça passed away at the age of 26 in a plane crash on November 5, 2021, on her way to a show. The tragedy recently ended three years ago, but since then, Donna Ruth has kept her daughter’s memory alive through tributes and projects that strengthen the singer’s legacy.
