Funk singer VT Quebradeira, who was arrested on Tuesday night (November 11) for allegedly harassing passengers with racist insults during a bus trip, has spoken out and announced that he will take time away from work to care for his “mental health.”

The 24-year-old Brega Funk singer released a statement this Wednesday afternoon (12/11) in which he thanked his fans for their support, but said he would temporarily focus on his health.
“We would like to inform you that artist VT Quebradeira will be temporarily stepping away from professional activities to protect his mental health,” the statement said. “We are grateful for the love and support of everyone who follows and believes in the work of our artists,” the text emphasizes.
The funk singer’s team said he should return “soon.” “Please continue to look forward to the artist’s improvement. Soon, VT will be rejuvenated, inspired and ready to take a new step in his career,” concludes the note released by the singer’s producer.

The incident occurred in a Cathedral vehicle traveling from São Paulo (SP) to Natal (RN). According to civil police, the artist boarded the ship in Goiania (GO) and was heading to the capital of Rio Grande do Norte state to perform in a show. During the trip, he allegedly harassed a passenger sitting next to him.
The victim told police the singer asked them to share a blanket and she agreed. The woman then made sexual gestures and comments, and the woman left. Faced with the rejection, the funk singer responded with a racist insult, allegedly saying, “I don’t even like black women, you ape.”
This is not the first controversy involving the singer from Recife (PE). Last December, VT Quebradeira hit a woman while driving drunk in João Pessoa (PB). At the time, he complained of mental illness and was admitted to a local hospital.
