Ukraine’s Chief of General Staff Oleksandr Shirski reported this Tuesday (November 11, 2025) that Russian forces had captured three towns in the Zaporizhzhya region, although on the same day Kiev had previously acknowledged that the advance of Russian forces had forced Ukrainian forces to retreat in five towns.
“The situation has deteriorated considerably in the areas of Oleksandrivka and Hryaipol, and the enemy took advantage of its numerical superiority in troops and means during heavy fighting to advance and capture three towns,” Silski wrote on his Facebook social networking account.
Ukraine’s military chief of staff did not name the three towns that were under Russian control.

“Soldiers of Army Group ‘South’ are engaged in harsh battles in Livnopilya and Yabulkove. Corresponding support measures are being applied,” the Ukrainian military official added, suggesting that “combined fire caused considerable damage to the invaders.”
“For every meter of our land, Russia sacrifices hundreds of military lives,” Shirski said, following Ukraine’s military statement and the reported withdrawal of Ukrainian defense forces from the towns of Nowospenivske, Nove, Okhotnyche, Uspenivka and Nowomykolavka.
