The family of Beatriz López, 30, Andre Poloni, 38, and their daughter Alice, 9, has at least 100 animals, including snakes, crocodiles, rabbits, monkeys, peacocks and ocelots. Located in Jacary, in the interior of São Paulo, the land they live on includes a family home as well as enclosures built and adapted to each species.
The daily lives of families with animals are shared on social media. fart big cityBeatrice said she and her husband have always had a passion for animals. When I met Andre 10 years ago, he was already in the business and had some rare species.
“When we learned that it was possible to legally keep these animals at home, we started acquiring more species. We built enclosures and acquired animals because it was a shared passion,” he admitted.
When they started, Beatriz and Andre lived in Interlagos, south of São Paulo. She revealed that they began to put their dreams into practice, especially after moving to the interior of São Paulo.
Beatriz explained: “Not all the animals stay inside the house itself, they all stay on the land.” Even so, this does not mean that the family is not in contact with all species.
Nothing changed when Alice was born. For Beatrice and André, animals are part of their daily life and home, and their daughter was “embedded” in her environment from the beginning of her life.
“When she was discharged from the hospital on her third day of life, she was introduced to all the animals. Since then, she has always had contact with animals and has always loved them. I don’t know if it’s because she grew up there already, because she was born among them, or if it’s something we inherited from her. All I know is that she has the same passion for animals as we do,” her mother said.

Beatrice joked that despite being bitten, poked and scratched, Alice continues to love animals and has not suffered any trauma. The relationship between girls and animals was always carried out consciously and responsibly by Andre, who has lived in this area for 24 years.

“We know the limits[of the animals]and we respect them very much and we have passed that on to our daughter. So when my daughter handles animals, she knows how far she can go and what animals she needs to supervise in order to handle them, and we always follow safety procedures,” Beatrice said.
For Alice, this intimacy with animals comes so naturally to her mother that she may not even realize how different her life is from other people’s, let alone the privilege of having this interaction. “But I think she loves this life very much,” he admitted.
Is it legal to own different animals?
Beatriz says she doesn’t need a permit to keep her family’s animals. All that is required is to obtain the animal from a legal breeding ground. These locations have permits and documentation to sell animals from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama).
“We also need to build spaces that are appropriate for each species,” he explained.
Of course, different types of animals require different management. Beatrice and André now have employees who help clean the premises.
