This Wednesday (12/11), the federal police launched Operation Nemesis. This is to investigate possible conduct that could embarrass a criminal organization allegedly involved in the diversion of public resources through COVID-19 and parliamentary amendments that were used to pay companies contracted to supply basic food baskets during the pandemic.
According to the PF, federal agents executed 24 search and seizure warrants issued by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) in Palmas (TO) and Santa Teresa do Tocantins (TO).

Development status
The investigation began on September 3, during the launch of the second phase of Operation Fames-19, in which the PF identified evidence that some agents used government offices and vehicles to remove and transport documents and materials of interest, confounding the investigation into the activities of the criminal organization, which is still ongoing and being handled in secret at the STJ’s special court.
In the lead-up to the operation, then-Governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa (Republican), was targeted and removed from office. He denied any wrongdoing.
According to the PF, the actions of this Wednesday are aimed at interrupting actions aimed at the destruction and concealment of evidence and assets, in addition to gathering new elements that will contribute to the elucidation of the facts, in particular regarding the participation of suspects and the possible actions of other agents who have not been identified so far.
