The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Organizing Committee announced the latest version of the competition schedule this Wednesday (12/11). The document details session-by-session times and locations for more than 300 sporting events to be held from July 14 to 30, 2028, marking the return of the Olympic Games to California for the first time in 44 years.
However, the letter emphasizes that all schedules are subject to change until the end of the tournament.

“Los Angeles will show how the Olympics can evolve without losing its essence. It will be a Games with a young soul, but also the weight of Olympic tradition,” the organizing committee said in a statement.
According to LA28 sports director Shanna Ferguson, more surprises are in store.
“We want to start the first day with a demonstration of the world’s fastest woman,” he said.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 14th at 9pm (Brasilia time) and will feature an innovative proposal to hold two ceremonies simultaneously, one at the traditional Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the other at the modern SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The idea is to symbolize the link between the past and the future of the Olympics. The closing ceremony will be held on July 30th, also at the Coliseum.
The official schedule confirms that the competition will be held across several “zones” in and around Los Angeles, including Downtown, Long Beach, Carson, Inglewood, Venice Beach, Pasadena, and even Oklahoma City, where canoe slalom will be held.
Among the most famous sports, track and field will be held at the Coliseum from July 15th to the 24th, and swimming will be held at the Long Beach Aquatics Center from the 22nd. Soccer will begin before the opening ceremony, with initial stages scheduled for July 12, with the grand final to be played at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium.

Organizers say Los Angeles 2028 will be a tournament with strong appeal to urban culture and a young audience. Five new modalities have been confirmed to be added to the Olympic program.
flag football – A non-contact version of American football makes its Olympic debut at the LA Convention Center, promising a fast and spectacular game. The sport is popular in amateur leagues in the United States and Brazil and is one of the event’s greatest assets.
baseball and softball – After a hiatus in Paris in 2024, they will return in 2028 with great local appeal. Baseball games will be played at Dodger Stadium and softball games will be played in Oklahoma City.
Climbing (sport climbing) – We replicated our success in Tokyo and Paris and expanded the format further. The competition will be held at the Long Beach Climbing Theater.
Skateboarding (street and park) – A sport born in California returns “home” and will be competed in the DTLA zone.
lacrosse and squash – Lacrosse, a traditional North American college sport, and squash, which has been looking for space for decades, have officially joined the Olympic program. Squash matches will be held at the Comcast Squash Center inside Universal Studios.
