Two players from Turkey’s reigning three-time champions Galatasaray were also among the 102 people punished, with Turkish international player Eren Elmali given a 45-day suspension and Metehan Baltaci given a nine-month suspension. Elmali, 25, admitted he placed the bets nearly five years ago when he was playing in the fourth division.
The TFF said it had handed Konyaspor’s Senegalese striker Alassane N’Dao, the only foreign player involved, a 12-month ban. Amez Sports, currently in third place in the second division championship, announced on Thursday night that they had terminated the contracts of five players who were disciplined by the TFF.
The federation did not say whether any of the 102 players who were disciplined had bet on the matches they were participating in.
