“Nobody made any comments. They couldn’t be witnesses. They had the same ticket as them,” Rafael Barone says resignedly at the beginning of the documentary.“The Racing Shooters”. The director, scriptwriter, and producer of this movie are Rodolfo Petris Reconstructing the history of six bodies discovered in Avellaneda Early morning on February 22, 1977.

During Argentina’s last civil-military dictatorship, four men and two women were taken out of a truck and shot dead by the military next to the walls of the Racing Club stadium. The massacre remained hidden for over 40 years. And to this day, the identities of the victims and the whereabouts of their bodies remain unknown.

The documentary follows a journalistic investigation that later led to the incident. judicial complaint. “When we started filming, we never thought we’d end up filing a complaint. We had this idea in our head that we wanted to tell something, that we wanted to investigate something, but the truth is we didn’t know where it would end,” the director says.

Over the course of the two-hour film, Petrice calls witnesses, tours crime scenes, and examines files to reconstruct what happened. “I found it interesting that some people didn’t want to talk about this topic or didn’t want to come to court because they were afraid to talk about the dictatorship. I didn’t expect that kind of fear,” Petris says.

The first time someone talked about this incident was in May 2016. Rafael Barone He testified in federal court in Daniel Rafecas about another shooting incident in Avellaneda. “I was walking with Omar Oreste Corbatta, a former soccer player, and we saw several people shot dead outside the field. We didn’t see any military personnel. The bodies were on the sidewalk by the ticket office on Calle Colon,” Barone said after testifying about the Tammet massacre in Piñeiro.

ex boyfriend file Buenos Aires State Police Intelligence Directorate (DIPPBA) examined records prepared by the Buenos Aires police at the time and, as expected, the incident was highlighted in the context of a false “confrontation with an extremist group.”

Founded in 1956 and disbanded in 1998, DIPPBA consolidated the apparatus of repression in Buenos Aires through the systematic production of intelligence and political information useful for state terrorism. Since 2001, thanks to Law 12,642, its archives local memory committee (CPM).

Archives were key in the production of this documentary. “You can find paper evidence of things that you probably only knew orally. Evidence that the incident actually existed was when the intelligence report was published in DIPPBA” explains Petrice.

The idea for this documentary came from a memo published by a journalist in 2018. Michaela Pollackreported on the execution. “That was the first news I heard. I immediately knew I had to make a documentary, furthering the investigation she had started,” says the director.

One of the purposes of the film was to publicize the case so that when it became public, people would come forward who could provide new testimony and data. The complaint filed included evidence collected during the investigation and a series of requested actions, including subpoenaing witnesses and requesting information from various state agencies.

“On the one hand, I felt happy from the satisfaction of doing my best to investigate a problem that had not been tackled before. Even if the judiciary could not identify the victim, this is still a journalistic story that constitutes the judicial facts of Argentina. It may or may not be resolved, but… There is evidence that this crime existed even during the dictatorship.” concluded Mr. Petrice.
