Another phase of the containment operation – similar to the one carried out in the Alemão and Peña complexes on the 28th – will take place this Friday in Sant Joan de Meriti, Baixada Fluminense. The actions of civilian and military police are aimed at countering the expansion of the Red Army Command. According to TV Globo, City Councilman Marcos Aquino (Republican) was arrested. Initially, he was not the target of this action, but was arrested with someone else’s gun at the home of his brother, Luis Aquino, who was being investigated for involvement in sectarian centers. So far, there are four prisoners in this case.
Also, according to TV Globo’s Bom Dia Rio, a pickup truck driven by Marcos Aquino was brought to Police City with a box of drugs in its bed. People close to Luis Aquino are also under investigation. An arrest, search and seizure warrant is being executed.
The operation is being carried out by the Drug Enforcement Police Department (DRE) and the Special Resources Coordination (Core) and Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) in Eden Basin, Castelinho and surrounding areas. A specialized police department was in charge of the investigation, which lasted 11 months.
