The Local Budget Project and Tax Finance Ordinance of 2026 was submitted to the Council’s Finance Committee yesterday with the support of UCR Block, with both opinions gaining five signatures.
In addition, the next year’s budget for the city tourism entity (Ematur), the regional market and the former City Bank entity was also submitted.
With this support, the initiative, which has had no major changes other than formal amendments, would receive 15 yes votes on the floor. This is a sufficient number for sanctions, given that approval of both the budget and tax law requires a simple majority, or 13 votes.
Yesterday, the Finance Commission, headed by Peronist Michaela Maggio, met to discuss the file issued by the executive branch, following a special meeting held by the commission to pay tribute to prominent citizens and organizations of the city.
Although there were no requests for revisions during the conclave, the PRO-JxC bloc questioned President Julio Arac’s government’s inflation forecast of about 30% for next year.
Meanwhile, the PRO Vecinal bench warned of an increase in the so-called “Monotase”, which pays 3% to local businesses, and while the highest category of this tax increased, the lowest category saw an increase in this tax.
A request for information was issued by the La Libertad Avanza (LLA) bloc, which criticized plans for an overall increase in the tax rate for all municipalities, which is expected to be around 30 percent.
Therefore, the majority of the delegations in favor of this initiative were submitted with the signatures of members of the Patria Union (UP) bloc and the UCR bloc. It was pointed out that although the two PRO blocs did not sign, this did not mean that they were not accompanied at the venue on the day of the vote.
On the other hand, the ASAP New Generation monobloc is not a member of the Finance Committee, so it was unclear yesterday whether MEP Melanie Holomadiuk already has a permanent job.
The ruling party’s idea is to discuss these initiatives at the site next Thursday, the 27th, in conjunction with the establishment of the Cemetery Authority, which was inaugurated on Wednesday, and the project to reform the Urban Planning Act (COU) and public transport documents.
