Influential Paulo Figueiredo said this Friday (11/14) that Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and Federal Representative Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) “meet the requirements” to run for President of the Republic in the 2026 presidential elections and represent Bolsonarism.
For Mr. Figueiredo, who supports Mr. Eduardo’s political activities in the United States, the right’s priority is to support candidates who faithfully represent Bolsonalism, and not names associated with centrons or interests that, according to him, would make Jair Bolsonaro (PL) vulnerable.
“Whether it’s Flavio or Eduardo, it doesn’t matter. What matters first is a candidate who truly represents our movement, and not one selected by the Central or the STF, which is holding Jair Bolsonaro hostage. Both meet this requirement,” he wrote.

Right-wing statements for 2026
The developments surrounding Flavio Bolsonaro come amid hopes of a closed prison for former President Jair Bolsonaro. Leaders of political parties that were part of the previous government and are currently championing Tarcisio de Freitas (Republican/SP) as an alternative to Lula, claim that Flavio has signaled his intention to run for president in recent weeks.
In addition to these conversations, the senator sought to make adjustments within the family. He discussed the issue with his brother Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who said he would run if Flavio is not elected.
