On Thursday morning (November 13), a 21-year-old man was arrested on Calle João Batista in Itapecerica da Serra, in the São Paulo metropolitan area, on suspicion of receiving stolen cargo. He and his accomplice were fleeing on a motorbike when they collided with a vehicle belonging to the city’s Civil Guard (GCM).
The other suspect, who managed to escape, dropped his cell phone. The device has been confiscated and will undergo a forensic examination. The tampered motorcycle has also been confiscated and will need to be analyzed by the civilian police who worked with GCM to make the arrest.
Vitor Santos de Jesús, head of the Itapecerica da Serra military police station, said the arrest of the suspect led to the location of a large quantity of stolen products intended for the production of panettone. The value of this material was at least 27,000 reais.

The delegation explained to reporters that the area where Itapecerica da Serra is located is traversed by the BR-116 motorway, a route widely used for domestic freight transport. Therefore, local governments are also concentrating on entertainment cases.
“The majority of cargo produced from the south to the north of the country ends up passing through here,” he said. As a result, he said, the municipality has a very high incidence of cargo crime. “But we are working productively and achieving important results,” he added.
