The “Health Closer to Citizens – Restoring Smiles” program already serves 4,166 socially vulnerable women in the Federal District. Since March this year, 27,877 free dental procedures have been carried out, expanding access to oral health and improving quality of life in different governorates.
At this stage, in Planartina, the mobile unit set up next to the Regional Administration Office has already served more than 1,000 women and carried out 5,621 procedures since August 18th.
The arrangement will remain in place until early December and will offer services ranging from counseling and cleanings to more complex treatments such as root canals and dental prosthetics.
With the goal of increasing the number of patients to 5,000 by the end of 2025, this project is one of DF’s major mobile oral health activities.

According to Vinicius Medeiros, deputy director of the Brazilian Institute for Health, Education, Research and Extension for Human Development (IBSaúde), each service represents a step in the democratization of health and the rebuilding of dignity.
“Restaurant Solisos is more than just a dental project. It is a transformative work that restores self-esteem, happiness and opportunity to women who have faced extremely difficult circumstances and have stopped smiling due to lack of oral health,” he emphasizes.
Before arriving in Planaltina, the project covered the areas of Paranoa, Itapoão and Sobrazinho, benefiting an additional 3,000 women.
Services are provided Monday to Friday from 8am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm in a modern mobile unit with offices staffed by a dental surgeon, oral health technician, assistant and social worker to ensure welcoming and comprehensive care.
