Professional partnership with mothers
In a conversation with Universa Channel’s María Ribeiro, Gabriela commented that it took her a while to realize how connected their images were. She reported that professional connections began early and strengthened over time.
“[Famous]duos have always existed. In a way, it took us a while to realize[that we were one]. We started fresh, but by the time we realized it, it was too late, because we were already very close and mixed,” he said.
The actress explained that fatigue arose when she realized that if she continued to act side by side, her trajectory would become repetitive. According to her, playing similar roles, often as mother and daughter, no longer seemed like a possible path.
“And as someone who is this (very strong) character, there was a time when I was struggling with the problem of working together. Doing everything together, playing the same characters, playing mother and daughter (tired). “People hated me.”
However, this decision was not initially well received. Gabriella recalled that professional distancing caused negative reactions and upset Regina.
“But when I said it, people hated it. Obviously they hated it. My mother didn’t like it. It was good and comfortable for my mother, who had already gone all her own way. I was there and we were sharing an apartment in Rio (De Janeiro), not in São Paulo. We had a house there. It was good for her. Why change something that is good? “he said.
Despite Regina’s warning that she might regret it, the actress decided to stick with her choice.
“She said, ‘You might regret it,’ and I said, ‘Okay, let me regret it.’ That’s life. But this flight in front of the public was canceled.” Gabriela said that despite the initial shock, time brought balance. “But we survived and everything is fine,” Gabriela concluded.
