A man allegedly murdered his father yesterday in a house on Calle Napols in Barcelona’s Sant Martà district. Shortly after, the 49-year-old suspect attempted suicide by jumping onto Barcelona metro tracks, Catalan police said in a statement. The alleged perpetrator of the murder and the victim’s son were hospitalized in critical condition, but his life is not in danger. The Mossos are investigating the incident as a domestic violence incident.
At 4pm yesterday, Mossos d’Esquadra received notification that the lifeless body of a man with signs of violence had been found inside an apartment. At the same time, they learn that there was a suicide attempt on the subway. Initial investigations linked the two episodes and allowed the suspect to be arrested.
The man suspected of being responsible for his father’s death was taken to the hospital after attempting suicide, where he remains in critical condition. Mossos sent investigators from the Division of Criminal Investigation (DIC) and investigators from the Scientific Police to the apartment where the crime took place to analyze and inspect the scene.
