In an operation this Friday morning, the São Paulo Public Ministry and Gendarmerie issued 33 temporary arrest warrants for members of the First Capital Command (PCC) in 13 cities in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
The Public Ministry’s Special Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (Gaeco) said the investigation revealed the existence of an organized, stable and hierarchical criminal organization involved in drug trafficking, enforcement of internal decisions known as “command discipline” and the commission of crimes against property.
Dozens of people involved have been identified and assigned specific roles within the faction, including logistics, tax collection, dissemination of ideology, and conflict resolution through so-called “criminal courts,” according to a report by the public prosecutor’s office.
The operation, named Prisma, executed preventive arrest warrants in Franca, Cristais Paulista, Jericuala, Altinopolis, Clavinhos, Matão, Ribeirón Preto, Ituverava, São Carlos, Patrocinio Paulista and Miguelopolis in the interior of São Paulo. and Delfinopolis and Uberlandia in Minas Gerais.
According to an investigation by TV Globo affiliate EPTV, a responding man was shot dead while carrying out legal acts in Franca. His identity has not been disclosed.
The investigation included analysis of messages, audio, and data extracted from electronic devices. The court’s decision emphasized the seriousness of the crime, the danger to those under investigation and the specific risk of flight, and also granted access to data stored on mobile phones to further the investigation.
