A fiery explosion and subsequent fire terrified residents of São Paulo’s east side on Thursday night (11/13). The incident occurred on Celso Garcia Street near the Salim Farah Maruf intersection.
Images published on social media show what happened. A huge cloud of smoke filled the sky east of São Paulo at dusk. Loud noises were also heard, including fireworks exploding nearby.

At least eight fire department vehicles were called to the explosion, which occurred at about 7:08 p.m. The corporation said the incident occurred at a residence, where fireworks were set off and a large amount of smoke was produced, followed by a small explosion.

Residents in the area reported on social media that the impact broke windows in several apartments in buildings near the explosion site. Cars parked on the street near the explosion site were also damaged.
Two people were transported to area hospitals.
