North American companies registered with the AmCham Argentina Chamber celebrated the announcement of the Framework Agreement on Mutual Trade and Investment between the United States and Argentina, saying it represents “a strong sign of mutual trust and a common strategic vision towards greater openness and integration with Western economies.”
“In a world of increasing fragmentation, competition and uncertainty, this move shows that our country has the necessary conditions to once again play a leading role in international trade,” Ancham said in a statement. “The United States is the world’s leading economy and the largest importer. In this scenario, the new agreement would put Argentina in a favorable position, especially in the face of the changes that global trade is undergoing,” they noted.
They said the announced agreement “opens the door to enhanced bilateral incentive pathways that will enable us to facilitate foreign trade, facilitate exchanges and enhance access to key markets like the United States.” “The potential elimination of tariff and sub-tariff barriers will increase the competitiveness of Argentina’s export sector and accelerate its internationalization, making the country an attractive destination for new investments, especially in strategic sectors,” they added.
Similarly, the two leaders noted that the framework is “in line with the global reconfiguration of value chains and the growing demand for alternative suppliers, in line with the near-shoring and friend-shoring trends promoted by the United States. Argentina’s relative competitiveness, combined with its sectoral advantages, creates concrete opportunities to integrate into these new trade and investment flows.” In this scenario, Amcham emphasized the relevance of “promoting agreements that enhance predictability, cooperation and trust between states.”
“Such equipment will not only create more favorable conditions for production, add value to the existing chain and create real jobs, but will also contribute to significantly reducing costs for Argentine consumers and thereby boosting the growth of the economy,” they said.
Furthermore, AmCham Argentina reaffirmed its commitment “to continue to accompany and promote all initiatives aimed at attracting investments, modernizing production structures and exploiting the opportunities offered by this new world economic map, contributing to the sustainable development of the country and strengthening bilateral ties.”
