Martín Eza, National Member of the PRO and former Mayor of Pinamar, visited the EL DÍA Editorial Office yesterday as part of a tour at the University of del Este for the presentation of his book “The Fifth Force” on artificial intelligence applied to politics. In an interview streamed by this newspaper, the leader assessed the PRO’s situation and its relationship with Javier Millay’s government. “We are coalitionalists and must build by 2031,” he said.
Regarding the period PRO is currently facing, he said the party is in the midst of an internal restructuring and needs to rebuild its identity to avoid dilution in the face of a Liberal government. After participating in the last National Council, Eza asserted that Mauricio Macri’s leadership was recognized there and that an attempt was made to establish a political reference after a year of “disorientation” since leaving power.
The lawmaker said that due to “post-macrismo,” the party left the party without a clear leader, leaders moved to suit the current convenience, and the emergence of Millais was a factor in the urgent reorganization. In this context, he recognized that the PRO was at risk of leaking, breaking and losing its shape.
In addition to proposing to “build a solid power structure by 2031,” Mr. Yeza assured that the PRO supports key legislation that guarantees governability, but warned that legislative support does not mean political fusion. “It’s one thing to help the government function and it’s another thing to lose the government’s profile,” he said, but stressed there was a more orderly dialogue about the reforms being discussed today. And he concluded: “If the government does well, it will probably hurt the PRO in 2027. But you can’t build in the hope that the other side won’t do well.”
