In a conversation with Arthur Lilla, the project’s rapporteur on the floor, the Minister of Institutional Relations of the President’s Office said that Lula wants to implement his 2022 campaign promise of IR immunity with a larger sanctions event, with all the pomp and circumstance. Therefore, the ceremony should be held next week.
Asked a while ago if a new date for the ceremony had already been set, Gleici said not yet, as it was scheduled for next week as Congress is vacant this week and November 20 is the Black Awareness Day holiday. The Minister explained:
— We believe it is important that sanctions be implemented with the participation of the members of Congress who helped approve this law. The deadline is the end of November. But we will implement the sanctions by the deadline.
Lula has until the 27th to approve the law.
