A 44-year-old man was hit by a drunk driver in a DF-130 near Café Sem Toroko in the rural center of Paranoa (DF), and was able to rescue his 13-year-old son before sustaining fatal injuries. At the time of the incident, the two were walking together on the side of the highway. The incident occurred on Tuesday night (11/11).
In a statement to the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF), a truck driver who witnessed the collision said that a drunk driver overtook the truck from the shoulder of the road. At that moment, the suspect’s car collided with a parent and child who were walking on the roadside. According to the truck driver, the 44-year-old man pushed the boy to avoid hitting him.
The driver fled after the collision, but was found by police shortly after. When he approached, he took a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a positive result for alcohol consumption. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken to Police Station 30 (San Sebastian).
CBMDF was helpful
The Federal District Military Fire Department (CBMDF) was alerted and came to the aid of the 44-year-old man, who was in cardiac arrest when the military found him. “Despite all efforts, the victim was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene,” the corporation said in a statement.
