An accident occurred on the final lap of the sprint race. Bortleto tried to overtake Alexander Albon at the first corner, but lost control and crashed into the pit lane wall. The car drove into a protected area.
The impact force was 57G, the highest this season. In the past 10 years, this figure is second only to Romain Grosjean’s accident in Bahrain in 2020, which reached 67G.

On Sunday (11/16), the Brazilian hit again. During the first lap of the main race, he lost his car during an altercation with Lance Stroll and crashed into the protection wall again. It was the driver’s fourth retirement of the season.

Damaged parts include front and rear wings, suspension, sides, floor, monocoque, wheels, and brakes. The team is assessing the damage to define the total loss. This financial impact exceeds that of Hiroki Tsunoda’s accident at the Monaco Grand Prix, which cost the team approximately $1.83 million.
The Brazilian, who is the 2023 F3 and 2024 F2 champion, made his F1 debut this year. The driver has 19 points in the championship with three races remaining.
