A fire broke out at Cesar Calles Hospital in central Fortaleza this Thursday morning, and an infant in an incubator was rushed to the hospital. According to the Ministry of Health, no supported areas were affected and no one was injured. The fire was extinguished around 11:30 a.m.
In total, more than 50 patients were transferred to other public health units. This information was disclosed by Health Secretary Tania Maria Coelho at a press conference.

The secretary said 10 to 15 low-risk patients had been transferred by around 12:30 p.m. Approximately 40 patients in the medium-risk ward will still be transported into the afternoon. A convoy of ambulances gathered in front of the Cesar Calles Hospital to transport him.
The first people to be removed were temporarily placed in a store in a popular shopping mall near the health center to await the arrival of an ambulance.
The Ceará Health Authority (Cesa) reported in a statement that the fire broke out in the substation of the César Calles Hospital.
“Teams from the fire department and energy company acted immediately and brought the flames and smoke under control immediately. No support areas were affected and no one was injured,” the statement said. “Cesa has advised that the situation is under control and the cause of the incident is under investigation,” the text added.
