-Why are you introducing your brother?

– I believe that at this time the Brotherhood needs a new impulse and evolution. It must be provided by the work and competence of the steering committee, which is made up of members of the candidates I am proposing. And this is not just my perception, but the feeling of many brothers who communicated it to me and motivated me to take this step. There is no question that I would not have made this decision if I had thought there was a better candidate than the one I am leading. Because everyone who knows me knows that in all my years as a brother, I have never been moved by any other purpose or goal than to help and contribute as much as I can to give the brotherhood its proper place.

– How have the last weeks of the election process developed?

– We had a very intense few weeks in terms of logic, interacting a lot with our brothers and sharing not only the same worries and concerns, but also the same hopes. Additionally, I must thank you for all the support and love I have felt. It definitely reinforced my idea of ​​presenting myself as an older brother.

– Do you think that the presence of three candidates can cause a division after the election process is over?

-I know that an election with three candidates can create some tension, but the atmosphere before the election was one of mutual respect and good faith, and I believe that the brothers of Las Aguas set a great example. Of course, for our part, if the brothers support our projects most, we guarantee that we will not stop trying to get all the brothers’ cooperation and work. Logically, this also includes some of the other candidates. In a brotherhood like ours, we cannot afford to do without anyone. The Brotherhood takes precedence over any candidate.

-What projects do you think your candidate will prioritize?

-Generally speaking, it will lead to a more active, open and recognized brotherhood. These goals are meant to allow me to take on ambitious and exciting projects from my day job, such as the creation of the María Santissima de Guadalupe Foundation. The Foundation serves welfare, social and cultural purposes to strengthen the fundamental pillars of the fraternity: worship, training, charity, and the preservation and enrichment of our heritage.

And we intend that with this opening, on the one hand, the Brotherhood will become more participatory, a place where all brethren feel heard and involved, and on the other hand, we believe that it is fundamental and very necessary that this opening of the Brotherhood also be directed outward, establishing stronger ties with the neighboring Brotherhoods, the Brotherhood of Holy Monday, the Brotherhood of Parishioners, and with those with whom we maintain historical ties, the Councils of the Brotherhood, private bodies, public bodies and organizations. To increase our appreciation and recognition of the brotherhood that goes beyond the bond of brother and sister, to strengthen our relationship with the Church and with Latin America, with which we have historical ties through the Devotion of Guadalupe.

Regarding heritage, we want to continue the project of the goldsmiths of Col de Palio. This is a fraternal project approved by the Brothers in the General Council, who have already announced the creation of an artistic committee consisting of experts in various subjects such as design, embroidery and conservation. This will enable them to contribute ideas to the various projects we have proposed, such as the renewal of the insignia, the recovery of old vestments for images of the Mystery Passes, or the improvement of Our Lady of the Rosary. Passed. All this, logically, depends on our resources and new sources of funding.

– Do you think the opening of Atarazanas and its transformation into one of the city’s tourist enclaves will benefit the Brotherhood?

-There is no doubt that this tourism and cultural project is a new opportunity that the Brotherhood cannot miss. We are located in a privileged part of the city and it is our intention that our chapel be integrated into this project and this new axis forming the shipyard and Calidar Hospital. Undoubtedly, this is an opportunity to make the presence of our brotherhood known to the thousands of people who visit these spaces, and for that reason we consider it essential that our chapels remain open for longer periods of time. As I said earlier, our intention is to open the door to cooperation and participation in this project in the broadest sense.

-If you are elected, will your position of trust within the Brotherhood and the Brotherhood be maintained?

– Of course, when faced with that question, I fully stress. Our idea is not to tinker with everything that works. And our commitment is firmly and publicly made to those in positions and trust who have shown their dedication and work over the past years and their love and affection for our brotherhood. An example of this is the recognition and respect that the current foreman and music band deserve. Gonzalo Carrion, together with his son and his entire team, formed a great group of costarellos. He is, as they say, a man of the house, and I personally maintain a great relationship with him and have always been committed to the service of the Brotherhood. Rosario de Cádiz and Municipal de Mairena are two excellent bands that always show their great qualities and with whom we maintain close relations.

– How do you assess the situation on Holy Monday? Do you think the Brotherhood should change its position or remain in its current position?

– I don’t think Holy Monday is a particularly complicated day compared to other Holy Weeks. The Brotherhood of Waters is happy with its position on the day because of its history, and changes to the roster of the day must be addressed through dialogue and consensus, thinking of the common interests of the day rather than particular interests. Our Brotherhood has a high proportion of Nazarenes, a high proportion of children and young people, and for us care and respect for our Nazarene brothers is a fundamental issue, and therefore the decisions that are taken are always aimed at improving the timing of repentance, so that if a modification of our position is proposed, which we do not currently consider, we will always bring it forward rather than delaying it further.

-After several Holy Mondays, the Brotherhood was affected by bad weather when going out, and certain disputes arose as to the method of conduct. Regarding your candidacy, what do you think needs to be improved in prisons?

– In that sense, without going into the evaluation, we recognize that there were some very painful situations for the brothers. Therefore, we, as candidates, advocate the deliberate and systematic training of the delegation corps, the implementation of the “water” plan previously agreed with various competent bodies such as Sekop, the meeting with the guardians of the various associations of altar boys to ensure their safety and integrity, and the creation of studies to improve the penitential stations, including studies such as: Different scenarios that may occur along our route on days with unstable weather. Logically, it can rain at a certain time, but you can’t overcome it. Detailed research and planning is essential to provide a quick and agile response that allows us to preserve and prioritize our brothers, our image, and our brotherhood’s legacy when necessary.

-Message to my brothers.

-We would like to tell everyone that by running for office, we are guaranteeing at least three things: work, passion, and effort. With these three premises, we want to put fraternity in its rightful place, make our brothers and sisters feel at home, ensure a sense of belonging among all of us, overcome recent adversities through new ways of governing, and enable us to look to the future with visible enthusiasm in the brothers and sisters who have come to us and know this project. To achieve these objectives, we have assembled a team of people who are dedicated, highly capable and willing to do their best to give the Brotherhood of Las Aguas the rightful place in the city due to its history and location. Now is the time for our brothers to decide for themselves what our future will look like in the coming years.
