All are set on the African continent. This Thursday (11/13), the semi-finals of the World Cup qualifying playoffs were held. After wins over Gabon and Cameroon, Nigeria and Congo qualified for the preliminary finals respectively.

At Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, Nigeria and Gabon took to the field at 1:00 pm (Brasilia time). The match continued to be a hotly contested game until the end, with the ranking decided only in extra time. The game was tied 1-1 in normal time, but Nigeria found the back of the net three times in extra time in search of a result.
Adams opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 90th minute, with Lemina leveling the score. In extra time, Ejuke found the back of the net and Osimhemu scored twice, giving Nigeria a 4-1 victory.
Later, in Morocco, Cameroon and Congo competed for the repechage final. After a 90-minute clash, the match was decided in stoppage time. Mbemba scored Congo’s goal 46 minutes into the second half, securing a 1×0 victory over the favorites.
With this result, Nigeria and Congo will qualify for the World Cup playoffs. The decision will be made on Sunday (11/16) at 4pm (Brasilia time) in Morocco. Nine African teams have already secured a spot in the World Cup: Egypt, Senegal, South Africa, Cape Verde, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Tunisia and Ghana.
