late justice
We need to recover the money embezzled by those convicted in the road case and those currently on trial in the notebook case. The delays in the first case are already grotesque, and the second court proceedings require extreme speed. This money must go back into the community, and it is urgent that it be distributed to those most in need, including retirees, pensioners, people with disabilities, and those who are unemployed but whose basic needs are not met.
Late justice is not justice.

don’t abandon us
There is no way to avoid the pain that comes from reading the drama of people who live and work in flooded areas in the province of Buenos Aires. But our attitude must always be in favor of the solution, not just helping along with it. I remember a project many years ago at the Polytechnic and Faculty of Engineering in the province of Córdoba. The project proposed the construction of a canal starting south from Aloit, originally fed by the Segundo River, and passing through the various towns within its jurisdiction. The river crossed the province of Buenos Aires through the western and central regions, passing through the province of La Pampa to the sea before connecting to the port of Bahia Blanca. This waterway greatly reduced the cost of transporting grain and other goods in a fleet of barges pulled by a single tractor ship. How nice it would be if today an investment project was proposed that takes advantage of the facilities provided by RIGI and, in the meantime, saves resources significantly and ensures the possibility of draining the above-mentioned surplus water and providing water for dry periods due to lack of rain.

I think the idea of giving young people training vouchers instead of money is great. Furthermore, arts and crafts workshops should be created in all public schools and universities to ensure future employment opportunities for students. There are two shifts: morning and afternoon. One is a traditional subject (history, geography, civics, mathematics, hygiene, etc.), the other goes opposite the previous subject and teaches the rudiments of trades such as mechanics, plumbing, carpentry, needlework, electricity and other noble crafts, and jointly conducts artistic workshops such as music, painting, sculpture, drama…enhancing the spirit of great human potential that is the youth of our country. Money must play a role in containing and supporting culture…as a means, not as an end. There is no point in concentrating wealth in countries without culture. A person who has learned to live well, even if he experiences difficult situations, will never be able to cope with them. The great Domingo F. Sarmiento said: “There will be more and more schools.” And that will lead us to a more integrated country, with less insecurity, drugs and violence, which unfortunately has escalated so much, within a framework of social peace without resentment.

Taiwan and Interpol
Founded in 1923, Interpol is the world’s second largest international organization, bringing together 196 countries. However, for more than 40 years, Taiwan has been unfairly excluded for political reasons. According to the Numbeo database, Taiwan ranks fourth in security out of 147 countries worldwide due to its low crime rate and close cooperation between police and civil society. These achievements demonstrate the ability to contribute to international security. However, exclusion from Interpol prevents access to databases and the I-24/7 police communications system, limiting real-time information exchange. This breach not only affects Taiwan, but also weakens global security networks and facilitates the spread of crimes such as human trafficking, financial fraud, and cybercrime.
As global crime becomes more sophisticated, the world needs a comprehensive police network. Allowing Taiwan to participate as an observer in the Interpol General Assembly and its governing mechanisms would be an act of justice and a practical step to strengthen global security. Taiwan is willing to cooperate, share experiences, and contribute to a safer and more just world.

speed
Last Saturday’s issue contained an interesting article with statistics showing that an alarming number of star violations at CABA are speeding. As someone who frequently uses buses that travel along Calle Cabildo, I would also recommend focusing on checking the speed at which buses travel along the Metrobus corridor. That’s because they’re trying to make up for time lost on busy roads, or because of unpleasant traffic lights. Once in the dedicated lane, the car reaches breakneck speeds. I don’t know if it happens on other branches of Metrobus, but it’s not hard to imagine what would happen if, in a part of the zigzag bus following each other according to the lane layout, one of the buses somehow ended up on a platform with waiting passengers. In this case, statistics are also very helpful.
