A woman was killed in a serious accident in the town of Avast in the past few hours, which has once again put the huge issue of insecurity on the region’s roads under discussion.
The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 523 and 211 when two motorcycles collided head-on, and the cause is still under investigation.
The victim, a 33-year-old woman, suffered multiple severe injuries and died before being taken to the hospital, police said.
Troops from the Western Sub-Command and Section 7 intervened and held the scene until Scientific Police arrived.
The intervening public prosecutor’s office classified the incident as an “unlawful murder” and ordered a mechanical examination, a breathalyzer test, and an analysis of the condition of the involved motorcycles, a Gilera Smash and a Honda Titan 150, which were driven by the deceased victim.
This incident joins other serious road accidents in the region where a combination of speed, inadequate signage and light motor vehicles have resulted in fatal consequences.
