The São Paulo Municipal Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities (SMPED) will inaugurate Casa Mae Paulistana for mothers with disabilities this Friday (11/14). The space is located at Rua Américo Salvador Novelli, 416, Itaquera, in the eastern district of the São Paulo capital. The inauguration will take place at 10 a.m.
City administrators say the space is a national pioneer in a space dedicated to welcoming, caring and empowering mothers and caregivers of people with disabilities. Collective activities aimed at different dimensions of care and autonomy are planned on site.
There are six types of actions:
- Cultural: It aims to promote artistic and cultural expression, stimulate creativity and appreciate different forms of artistic expression.
- Physics: It aims to promote physical and mental health and encourage teamwork and collaborative skills development.
- Entrepreneurship: It aims to encourage training and the development of entrepreneurial skills for the job market.
- Happiness and social autonomy: It aims to promote emotional balance and develop social skills essential for social life.
- Expanding horizon: Casa Mae Paulistana expands the opportunities it offers, helping participants discover new experiences, integrate into the community and discover new skills and interests.
- Training course: It aims to provide opportunities for learning and personal development.
Individual service
The monthly private sessions will be led by experts in the fields of psychology, social work and law, according to city administrators.
For psychologists and social workers, monitoring must include a humane welcome, attentive listening, emotional support, and individualized guidance based on each patient’s needs.
Under legal services, those supported will receive guidance on social rights and benefits, including applying for retirement and issuing a Certificate of Identity for Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (CIPTEA), as well as accessing Continuing Payment Benefits (BPC).
This location is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is approximately 7 minutes by car or 15 minutes by bus from Corinthians-Itaquera metro station.

This initiative was developed based on Decree No. 63,686/2024 establishing the Entrerasos program aimed at providing support and assistance to mothers of persons with disabilities in the city of São Paulo.
The space has a built-up area of just over 475 square meters and includes four service rooms, a pantry, cafeteria, three function rooms and common areas.
According to the City of São Paulo, the house is fully equipped to ensure full accessibility, with Braille floors and pathways, handrails, guardrails, tactile maps, doors, stairs and passageway markings, an elevator and accessible toilets.
The restoration of the space required an investment of R$1.75 billion, including infrastructure renovation (R$930,000), value of equipment (R$690,000), location and costs (R$130,000).

The operation will be managed by the Socio-Technical Institute (ITS), the organization that won the call for proposals number 02/SMPED/2025 and will be responsible for the implementation of individual and collective activities and the maintenance of the space.
The total transfer amount stipulated in the partnership agreement is approximately R$15 million over five years. The total amount is approximately 3 million reais per year, and the monthly remittance amount is approximately 250,000 reais.
This amount will be used to implement activities, fund multidisciplinary teams, maintain spaces, and develop welcoming and training activities and has been communicated to municipal managers.

According to City Hall, the form requests information such as CPF or RNE (National Register of Aliens), postal code, relationship to the disabled person (mother, father, guardian or carer), degree of kinship, full name, email address and mobile phone number on WhatsApp.
In addition to selecting the desired day and time (morning or afternoon) for face-to-face assistance, registration asks users to inform whether the person with a disability will participate in the educational activity and for which shift. A second option is also possible. Once you have verified your data, confirm and complete your registration.
Once the process is complete, the system will generate a protocol number and the requester will receive an email confirming the submission. team of Casa Mãe Paulistana will analyze your request within 7 business days and contact you if your registration is approved. Casa Mae Paulistana is part of the 2025-2028 target program of the “Viva São Paulo” axis, Goal 72, which sets out the delivery of four units of Casa Mae Paulistana for people with disabilities in the capital of São Paulo. The next three units will be installed in the city’s north, south and west zones by 2028.
