The details of the data become even more important when considering the impact of the event as tourism and wealth creation for the city. Of the total number of participants, 2,000 will be from the province of Alicante itself, and 7,000 from all over Spain and different countries, ensuring a notable return of tourists to Benidorm. In total, 48.7% are Spanish and 51.3% are foreigners.
“As an organization, we are very pleased with the growth of our tests at each event and the results of the efforts of our runners, who always have great experience,” said Fernando Brotons, Race Director and CEO of Tour Sport Promociones Deportivas, which organizes the Benidorm Half.
According to the economic impact study prepared by the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences of the University of Valencia for the 2024 edition, the average number of companions per runner was 2.6. Applying this data to the 7,000 runners arriving from the outskirts of Alicante in 2025, we would expect 18,200 companions, for a total of 25,200 visitors. “This has allowed us to generate an increase in tourism to Benidorm through running, which is one of the goals we set when we were asked to organize the test.” Undoubtedly, the tourism pillar has more than delivered,” emphasizes Brotons.
The distribution of participants by distance was 49.2% for the half marathon and 50.8% for the 10km. By gender, 58.7% of men and 41.3% of women participated. At a distance of 10,000 meters, the ratio is very balanced: 50.3% male and 49.7% female. In 21K, the percentage is 67.8% for men and 32.2% for women.
The circuit is approved for both distances and the event is included in the national calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA). The 21K (21,097 meters) and 10K (10,000 meters) start on Avenida Comunidad Valenciana (corner with Belgian Street) and finish in Plaza de SS.MM. King of Spain No. 1 in Benidorm (City Hall). As with the past two editions, the Benidorm Half, presented by Tour Sport Promociones Deportivas, will feature popular runners and maintain its focus on elite athletes.
