The man is suspected of killing Jair Jose Gonçalves, 71, and writing a handwritten letter admitting the crime. Police identified the suspect as Wonderson Araujo Rodriguez. In the letter, he said: “I killed a man. I have no regrets. I did it to save a woman with a good heart from her misery.” The paper, which was given to another person, also stated that by the time the letter was read, he had already traveled far away and was planning to wait for the police to surrender himself.

Jair Jose’s body was discovered by civilian police officers from Police Station 19 (P North) on Thursday afternoon (11/13). Jair’s body was found wrapped in a sheet in the backyard of a chicken coop at Chacala 74, Section 3 of Sol Nacente (DF).

The victim lived alone and had been missing since last Sunday (9/11). Witnesses reported seeing the couple who greeted him remove items from the residence, raising suspicions that the theft may be linked to the disappearance.
Wonderson has a previous conviction for robbery and is currently on the run. Police are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 197.

Fernando Fernandez, head of the 19th Democratic Party, said the team is collecting statements in the area and analyzing surveillance camera images to identify the dynamics of the crime and locate suspects.
A witness who is a neighbor of the victim told PCDF that Jair Jose was not married, had no children and lived alone when several people came to his door asking for money. He also said the victim did not have a mental disorder or was abusing drugs.
The elderly man’s body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) where forensic tests will help determine the cause of death. This incident is still under investigation. No suspects had been arrested as of this report’s last update.
