The principal of a public school in Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo, has been removed from his post after a camera was discovered in one of the unit’s bathrooms.
The incident took place on Wednesday (12th) and a team from the Civil Guard was called in following complaints from the student’s parents. Officials at the scene confirmed the presence of a camera.
The state Education Department, controlled by Republican Tarcisio de Freitas, said the cameras found at Francisco Guedella State School were not working and had been removed from the site.
The ministry reported that it had launched a preliminary investigation to be monitored by the supervisor of the Botucatu Regional Education Department.
“Seduc-SP emphasizes that under no circumstances is the installation of cameras in bathrooms part of the ministry’s guidelines,” the ministry said in a note.
