The former Peixe coach recalled that Neymar was able to stand out thanks to his movements during matches.
Neymar has had a difficult time since returning from injury and is looking to regain his reputation and hope within Santos. The star, who is a key name to avoid further relegation, has already had a great moment for the club.
From 2011 to 2013, Muricy Ramalho was in charge of the team. In an interview with TMC São Paulo Radio, Peixe’s former manager recalled that Peixe was the most physical player on the team. According to Murithy, this happened due to a move he made during the match.
“The attackers are not the best in the team physically in terms of training. But he was a very strong player in the physical part, because in addition to improvisation, he relied on this problem to change direction, which he always did. In the tests we did, he was always the best in this sense,” he said.
The coach also commented on the injuries the star has been suffering from recently. Murithy emphasized that injuries greatly affect a player’s performance, causing him to lose his characteristics and act differently.
“When you’ve been playing for years, injuries start and serious injuries happen. This affects a player a lot. He’s starting to lose some of the things he had as an asset, mainly power. He needs power. Sometimes you watch him play, but he’s different, acting more like a passer and an organizer than a confrontational guy, because that’s exactly what he was out of,” he pointed out.
no one forgets how to play
In the end, Mouricy emphasized how different Neymar is. The coach recalls the training the star player did for Santos and is helping him get back to a good level on the field.
“Of course he is different. I watched him not only in games but also in training, so he was one of the best players in the world. We are rooting for his physical recovery, because even if he changes the way he plays, he will never forget[playing football]because he behaves more like a thinker than a hard worker,” he concluded.
