Turkish authorities will send seven of the 11 people arrested over Saturday’s fire that killed six people at a perfume factory in the country’s northwest to prison on Tuesday, facing charges ranging from murder to destroying evidence.
The Gebze town court took the decision after prosecutors interrogated 11 suspects, including the factory owner and his son and nephew, online newspaper Birgün said.
Three relatives were jailed along with two other suspects on suspicion of premeditated murder. Two other people are also in jail on suspicion of concealment.
Of the remaining four suspects who were released, authorities have issued departure bans for three of them, and one is under judicial custody and cannot leave his home.
A fire broke out at a perfume factory in the Dilobashi area of Kocaeli city, severely damaging the facility and killing six people and injuring seven others. Three minors, ages 15 and 17, were among those killed, all of whom were inside the warehouse when the fire broke out.
