Man survives being bitten on the head by a shark

Marine biologist Mauricio Hoyos has been studying sharks for more than 30 years. Part of his job involves installing monitoring equipment on these animals.

While on a business trip to Costa Rica in September, Mauricio tracked a Galapagos shark that was 3 to 3.5 meters long.

As he positioned himself to place a surveillance tag on the animal’s fin, something unexpected happened. he was attacked

“As soon as I looked out of the corner of my eye, I saw the shark’s mouth right in front of me. All I could do was lower my head because I wanted to protect my carotid artery. So I reacted instantly,” he said.

The shark sank its jaws into Mauricio’s head, inflicting five injuries. But they were not infected, and the biologist quickly recovered.

In this video, he tells how it happened and why this episode made him look at sharks differently.
