Madrid November 12 (Europe Press) –
Ukrainian authorities reported on Wednesday that the Minister of Justice, German Galushchenko, had been dismissed as the corruption investigation into the state energy company Energoatom continues, and the scandal could affect multiple government officials.
“After an extraordinary cabinet meeting, it was decided to dismiss him,” Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko said, according to information disseminated through the country’s Telegram channel.
Accordingly, the duties previously held by Galushchenko, who served as the country’s energy minister from 2021 to 2025, will be temporarily taken over by Liudmila Sugak, deputy justice minister for European integration.
Just two days ago, Ukraine’s State Anti-Corruption Service announced a special operation to unravel serious corruption cases in the energy sector. Investigators thus discovered evidence that members of the criminal organization had set up a large-scale corruption network to exert influence over state-owned companies, including Energoatom.
Security forces have so far arrested five people allegedly involved, including a businessman, a former Energy Department adviser and a worker, all of whom have been charged with money laundering crimes.
