ApexBrasil, a Brazilian government agency focused on the internationalization of state-owned companies, will incubate 10 Brazilian startups in various sectors, including biotech, fintech and agritech, in Portugal for nine months.
Work plans and investment forecasts have not yet been developed. The program includes meetings with European investors and the use of the agency’s offices in Lisbon by companies from 2026.
Jorge Viana, President of Apex and PT and former Governor of Acre, announced the program in Lisbon on Tuesday night (11th). The agency participated in Web Summit, an annual international technology conference, and sent a delegation of 340 startups to Portugal.
The companies selected by Apex for incubation are Aiper, Beeviral, Biolinker, Hope, Just Travel, PixNow, SleepUp, SST, Wood Chat, and 593iCAN.
According to Viana, the agency selected 10 companies based on a preliminary screening by the Web Summit organization, and selected 108 companies to take command of the stand from among the 340 Brazilian startups that participated in the event.
Apex selected 10 companies to participate in the program in Portugal, taking into account the internationalization maturity of these companies, as well as gender and geographical diversity criteria. Four of them are led by women.
Both companies are headquartered in São Paulo, Acre, Bahia and Rio de Janeiro.
Fernanda Onofre, CEO and founder of Wood Chat, an Acre-based startup that has developed software that recognizes the type of wood being sawn through photos, says incubation will be important for the company to access Europe, a large consumer market for Brazilian wood.
“They need to make sure they are buying wood of legal origin. We can create this digital passport,” says the businessman. Fernanda said Wood Chat not only helps overseas buyers, but also works with environmental inspectors and domestic intermediaries.
