plan As part of the 60th anniversary commemoration of the temple, It was celebrated on October 7, 1965, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, and was declared a minor basilica by Pope Paul VI’s brief papacy on November 12, 1966.
This event made the Macarena the first temple in Seville to receive such a high reputation, fulfilling an aspiration that had been held by the Brotherhood since 1910. Provide Our Lady with a “home” that gathers the love and devotion of the entire nation.
Inspired by the words of the architect Aurelio Gómez Milan, the author of the original project: “Give the great Virgin a shrine that will unite the fervor, faith, and enthusiasm of those who look to her, even if they do not deserve her.” Fernández Cabezuelo proposes a series of actions aimed at securing the future of the Cathedral with a respectful and sustainable vision, preserving and strengthening the heritage it has received.
The main course of action is as follows.

–The artistic culmination of the sacramental chapelwith a comprehensive project that completes its aesthetic and devotional composition.
–Report and possible restoration of the Virgin of Guadalupe canvas (Joseph Mota, 1709), a symbol of the sisterhood with Tepeyac Cathedral in Mexico.
–Technical Report and Restoration of Salvation Christ, A work by Luis Ortega Blue.
