goiania – The Jatai Court, a municipality in the southwestern state of Goiás, recognized the stable union of the three-person couple. The court’s decision, announced Friday (7/11), is unprecedented in the state. Tulio Adriano Marquez, Wellington Ferreira da Costa and Lucas Santana Delgado have been together for five years.
The decision was signed by Judge Sabrina Rampazzo de Oliveira of the Sixth Dispute Resolution and Civil Rights Justice Center in Jatai. She emphasized that both parties claim to maintain a public, continuous and permanent coexistence with the aim of building a family.

Although stable unions in polyamorous relationships are not recognized in Brazil, couples who wish to have their cohabitation recognized can appeal to the judiciary.

The threesome began in 2019, when Tulio and Wellington, who had been dating since 2014, became involved with Lucas. The demand for a stable union was submitted by Jatai Federal University Law Center (NPJ-UFJ).
The judge noted that the three had “freely expressed their desire for their relationship to be judicially recognized under the system of partial community of property.” Legal force and legal effect arises from the beginning of the relationship.
