Amid accusations of abuse of power and threatening treatment by Supreme Judicial Court judge Cristina Lombada during the raid on Interior Minister Armando Benedetti’s home, Adelina Guerrero, wife of the Interior Minister, detailed how she experienced the judicial process.
Beyond the police deployment, Guerrero highlighted what he described as degrading treatment by Judge Lombana, who presided over the case.

During cross-examination, Mr. Guerrero claimed that he received explicit threats to deprive him of his liberty if his answers did not satisfy the judge.
“At one point, she came to ask me some questions, but before asking any questions, she threatened to throw me in jail for 30 days if I answered incorrectly.. I answered her questions, but at some point she started asking things she didn’t need to ask. “Then my lawyer intervened and said that this was not an interrogation and that she was only going to ask me three questions and that was too much,” Guerrero said.
Another moment that particularly affected her was when an armed bodyguard accompanied her during the surgery. She said she felt she was treated like a “criminal” because the magistrate ordered Guess officials to escort her at all times.
“I told him: “Look, I know you’re following orders, but you’re doing me a favor.” I’m not a criminal, I’m not a criminal. You don’t have to be next to me. you are blackmailing me” commented the minister’s wife.
Regarding the issue of isolation during the raid, Guerrero stressed that she was initially prohibited from communicating with her husband and lawyer under claims of judicial secrecy.
Despite this instruction, Mr. Guerrero managed to make a phone call and facilitate the remote presence of his attorney through a loudspeaker. When Benavidez arrived in person, the judge allowed him to participate, but Guerrero said Benavidez would have given his agents a warning.
“And in that moment, she said to her lawyer: “Well, you can keep being diligent, but you keep it up and keep quiet.” So literally. So these are all the conditions, the way she treats people, and on top of that, it doesn’t seem like I’m the one being investigated or anything. “It was a very coercive, very derogatory and derogatory manner,” Guerrero said.
