A 75-year-old man in Moreno killed a burglar who broke into his home. The break-in occurred yesterday at a home located at 5000 12 de Octubre Street in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Moreno.
According to police sources, the man was sleeping when he heard strange noises and pulled out a gun. He is a legitimate user and has encountered an intruder on his premises.
The owner, identified as Antonio E., 75, shot the attacker twice.. One of the projectiles hit the attacker in the arm and the other in the abdomen. The injured man fell to the ground and died shortly after.
After calling 911, officers from Moreno Police Station 1 arrived at the scene and directed the body to be transported to a local hospital.
The gun used was confiscated by authorities, and the homeowner appears to be a legal firearm user, according to a police report.
The deceased was identified as Fernando Vega, 40 years old. He was wearing latex gloves when he entered the home and pried open the back door. He had a criminal history including intimidation, robbery, deprivation of liberty and attempted escape.
At this time, the homeowner is not in custody, but no legal liability has been charged.
