34-year-old midfielder Oscar is going through a delicate period on and off the field. The Sao Paulo player showed changes in his heart during a routine test at the Barra Funda CT on Tuesday (11th) and fell into a coma. He was taken by ambulance to Israel Albert Einstein Hospital, where he spent the night in the ICU and underwent a diagnostic catheterization and MRI scan.

Oscar is in stable condition and remains hospitalized with no prospect of discharge, receiving support from the club and his family. Sources close to him say he is likely to announce his retirement in the coming weeks.

Family asks him to end his career

The decision to step away from football has a strong impact on his family. Oscar and his wife Ludmila Emboaba are parents to Julia and Caio and want to prioritize family life and the athlete’s health. The midfielder, who was quite upset by this episode, understands that it’s time to quit.

After a career spanning more than 15 years, the player has achieved financial stability that allows him to step away from the field with peace of mind. Oscar has been suffering from heart disease since August, and tests conducted after he suffered a hip fracture revealed changes in his heart. He has been on medication since then and was cleared to play by a civilian doctor.
