Jakarta (ANTARA) – Promotion team PSIM Yogyakarta made its debut in the 2025/2026 BRI Super League with an impressive record. In the first four matches, Laskar Mataram managed to get two wins and two draws. This record makes PSIM one of the most promising promotion teams this season.
PSIM’s first victory even came as a surprise when they beat Persebaya Surabaya at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, thanks to their only goal in injury time. Jean-Paul van Gastel’s team subsequently drew 1-1 against guests Arema FC and Persib Bandung. In the fourth week, PSIM once again demonstrated its strength by beating Malut United 2-0 at the Kie Raha Stadium.
However, August’s hegemony does not necessarily guarantee that the PSIM’s path will run smoothly. Starting from September, this Yogyakarta club will face a tough schedule as they will have to face three strong teams, namely Borneo FC, Bali United and PSM Makassar.
Borneo FC will be PSIM’s first opponent on Sunday 14 September 2025 at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, 3.30pm WIB. This match is expected to be fierce as both teams are undefeated. Borneo FC in recent seasons is also known as one of the strongest in League 1 which often becomes an obstacle for the best teams.

Next, PSIM will play away against Bali United at Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar on Saturday 20 September 2025 at 19.00 WIB. Bali United just emerged from a negative trend by beating Madura United 1-0 in matchweek four. In addition to this, the team nicknamed Serdadu Tridatu is reinforced by champions and is also coached by a Dutch coach, Johnny Jansen. PSIM also have to be careful because in the previous pre-season event they lost badly 0-6 to Bali United.
PSIM’s last test in September will be against PSM Makassar at Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium, Parepare on Saturday 27 September 2025 at 3.30pm WIB. PSM, one of the most experienced teams on the national football scene, has not achieved consistent results after managing only three consecutive draws. However, the quality and winning mentality of PSM remains a difficult challenge for the promotion team.
The following is the schedule of PSIM Yogyakarta in September 2025:
- September 14: PSIM Yogyakarta vs Borneo FC Samarinda – 3.30pm WIB – Sultan Agung Stadium
- September 20: Bali United FC vs PSIM Yogyakarta – 7.00pm WIB – Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium
- September 27: PSM Makassar vs PSIM Yogyakarta – 3.30pm WIB – Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium
Under the management of Jean-Paul van Gastel, PSIM Yogyakarta will look to maintain their positive trend while proving themselves as a promoted team capable of competing at the top of the 2025/2026 Super League.
