Jakarta (ANTARA) – Cooperation between countries in the Asia-Pacific region plays an important role in maintaining global economic growth. One of the largest forums hosting this collaboration is APEC or Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
This organization is made up of countries around the Pacific Ocean that are committed to strengthening free trade, economic development and innovation across the region.
Discussions on APEC returned to the spotlight after President Prabowo Subianto attended the APEC 2025 summit in South Korea from October 31 to November 1, 2025.

5. Japan – Joined APEC on November 6-7, 1989

7. Malaysia – Entered the first wave on 6-7 November 1989
8. New Zealand – Registered 6-7 November 1989
9. Philippines – Officially united November 6-7, 1989

With a membership now numbering 21 economies, APEC continues to serve as a forum for strategic cooperation in strengthening the economy of the Asia Pacific region.
President Prabowo’s presence at the 2025 APEC Summit in South Korea represents an important impetus for Indonesia to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening international economic relations, as well as opening up more investment and cooperation opportunities in the future. Through this forum, Indonesia is expected to continue to encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth together with other APEC partners.
