FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Erick Thohir, newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports by President Prabowo Subianto, at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (17/9).
This message was broadcast by Infantino via his official Instagram account, @gianni_infantino. When uploading a photo with him Erick ThohirInfantino wrote: “Sincere congratulations to @erickthohir on his inauguration as Indonesia’s new Minister of Youth and Sports.” he said.
He assessed that Erick showed excellent performance as general president of PSSI. “As president of @pssi, he has done an extraordinary job and I am sure he will bring strong leadership and vision to his new role. Good luck, my friend, in your efforts to develop the sport and introduce football to every young person in Indonesia,” wrote Gianni Infantino in his Indonesian translation.

In response to this appreciation, Erick expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and support provided by FIFA. “We are very confident that through collaboration and strong commitment, sport and Indonesian youth will be able to continue to develop and make great contributions on the international stage,” he said.
Erick also highlighted the importance of FIFA’s support for the advancement of football, especially in Asia and Indonesia. “We hope that the synergy between FIFA and Indonesia will continue to exist and play a role in the progress of world football,” he added in his translation into Indonesian.
