Jakarta (ANTARA) – Katy Perry just released her latest song and music video “Bandaids” on Thursday (11/6), which supposedly depicts the story of her heartbreak as she navigates her love journey with Orlando Bloom after nine years together.
The scene and lyrics of the song allude to his efforts to save a dying relationship through the depiction of him surviving a series of unfortunate accidents, much like the movie “Final Destination”.
The video, directed by Christian Breslauer, opens with Perry, who was washing dishes in the sink, accidentally dropping her engagement ring into the water pipe and trying to catch it, but actually hurts her hand.
“Hand to God, I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t do / You were there but you weren’t,” Perry sings in the song’s first verse.
The scene in the video then transitions to scenes of Perry almost having a series of other unfortunate accidents due to his carelessness when he looked so tired. This was marked by his blank stare with scratches on his face and arms.
Starting from cutting the trunk of the tree he was sitting on, causing it to fall, getting his shoelaces caught in the escalator, causing it to fall, getting electrocuted, until the tree trunk fell off the truck in front of him and hit his car.
There is also a scene where his foot gets caught in the train tracks, where when the train speeds towards him he turns to look at the little white daisy growing near the tracks, as if it gives him strength. The daisy appears to be a reference to Orlando Bloom’s daughter, Daisy Dove, born in August 2020.
Unfortunately, not long after Perry escaped the impact of a train, he mistakenly jumped into the living mud. With mud all over his body, Perry then dragged himself to the supermarket to buy a box of cigarettes and lighters.
The scene then cuts to the finale, where Perry deliberately burns the cigarette he was smoking at a gas station at night, triggering a large explosion.
However, Perry doesn’t just describe pain in the song. He admitted that their relationship had beautiful moments and he had no regrets about what had happened.
“If If I had to do it all over again / I would do it again anyway / The love we made was worth it in the end,” Perry sings in one of his verses.
“Bandaids” is Perry’s first song since breaking up with actor Orlando Bloom. The couple, engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019, announced their separation in a joint statement in July 2025.
Perry is now dating Justin Trudeau, former Canadian Prime Minister. The couple made headlines after they were caught on camera making out on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara last month.
As for “Bandaids,” Katy has not released any new music since her album titled 143 in September 2024. It is not yet known whether “Bandaids” will be a single or if it will be part of Perry’s next album.
Here are the full lyrics to the song “Bandaids” by Katy Perry:
Hand to God, I promised, I tried
There is no stone left unturned
It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t do
You were there, but you weren’t
I’ve gotten so used to you letting me down
There’s no point in trying to send flowers now
Telling myself you will change, you don’t
Band-Aids on a Broken Heart
I tried all the drugs
It lowered my expectations
He made every excuse
Bleeding, bleeding, slow bleeding
Band-Aids on a Broken Heart
On the bright side, we had some great times
Never fake our photos
We were perfect until we weren’t
Now we have too many splinters
I’ve gotten so used to you letting me down
There’s no point in trying to send flowers now
Telling myself you will change, you don’t
Band-Aids on a Broken Heart
I tried all the drugs
It lowered my expectations
He made every excuse
Bleeding, bleeding, slow bleeding
Band-Aids on a Broken Heart
It’s not that complicated
To ask me how my day is going
I’m flatlining trying to save him
Bleeding, bleeding, slow bleeding
Band-Aids on a Broken Heart
If I had to do it all over again
I would do it all over again
In the end, the love we made was worth it
Oh yes, oh yes
If I had to do it all over again
I would do it all over again
In the end, the love we made was worth it
Oh yes
I tried all the drugs (all the drugs)
It lowered my expectations
He made every excuse
Bleeding, bleeding, slow bleeding
Band-Aids on a Broken Heart
