“@whitehouse is getting ready for Halloween,” the US First Lady’s Office’s official account @FirstLadyOffice wrote on X on Tuesday (10/28).

However, the post, which showed many fresh pumpkins used as decoration, received criticism from some people online, who linked it to hunger and food shortages.
According to the Daily Mail, some people criticized Melania for decorating the White House for Halloween with lots of pumpkins in order to distribute the pumpkins to those in need of food.
This criticism emerged after access to food assistance for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) citizens in the United States was threatened with disruption next month, where approximately 42 million Americans rely on SNAP which provides food benefits to low-income families.
During the last Halloween celebration during the first Trump administration in 2019, Halloween decorations at the White House looked even spookier, with thin dark tree trunks and lit pumpkin lanterns on the South Portico of the White House.
According to information provided by the First Lady’s office on its official website, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will traditionally open the south courtyard of the White House. trick or treating during Halloween celebrations on October 30.
The event, which will be held from 4pm to 8.30pm local time, is open to thousands of ticketed children and parents, including military families, law enforcement and government personnel.
The President and First Lady will distribute official White House commemorative candy to visitors during the event. In addition to this, several American government agencies also animated the event by filling various thematic stands.
